Sally Jones
My Background I initially trained to be a registered nurse and I worked in oncology and in the community before moving from Sydney to Perth in 1990 and raising my family. I have two adult children and recently became a grandma. I upgraded my diploma to a social work degree and worked primarily with families of children with disabilities and in child protection services. After 20 years of social work, I decided to have a better work-life balance and do what I love by combining yoga and kids. I developed my business, Calm Kids Calm Families. |
My Mission is to create calmer kids and calmer, more connected families through mindfulness practices and a trauma-informed perspective.
My Passion
I really wanted to work directly with children, giving them life skills in teaching them how to self-regulate their big emotions and manage stress. I have seen many traumatised kids in care with diagnoses of ADHD, anxiety and PTSD, and I have seen some spectacular meltdowns. I initially planned to achieve this through Calm Kids Calm Families - facilitating Circle of Security Parenting workshops and by teaching kids and family yoga, with an emphasis on mindfulness and meditation.
Then I discovered Peaceful Kids and it was a perfect match. I still teach yoga to children and adults with additional needs as well as family and general kids’ yoga. I am looking forward to spreading the calm further through facilitating Peaceful Kids groups in the community.
